Spathodea campanulata, African tulip

Tropical Africa: West Kenya, Uganda. Spectacularly showy evergreen tree to 20 m high, with odd-pinnate foliage, the leaflets 6-12 cm long; large bell-shaped flowers 8-12 cm long, swollen on one side and 5-lobed, crimson red with yellow frilled edge, carried facing upwards in terminal clusters.
